about
In a world where the lines that define genres are continually blurred, Wyldephyre’s newest single, “For My Life” comfortably finds its home within those blurred boundaries. Falling somewhere between progressive dance, IDM, and jazz fusion, “For My Life” aims to bring fans of those genres to a common ground. In an attempt to further blur the lines that define genre, Wyldephyre recorded Travis Collins as a feature on drumset – bringing the energy of acoustic drums into an eclectic, electronic sonic space.
Originally produced in 2017 as audition material for Berklee, Valencia, “For My Life” felt ready for release – until Wyldephyre met drummer Travis Collins while studying at Berklee. As a song that already struggled to be defined by a specific genre, adding high energy acoustic drums into an otherwise electronic track seemed like the perfect addition to the melting pot of influences. The result felt like an entirely new song, with new life breathed into it.
“For My Life” draws influence from artists such as Dorian Concept, Lido, and Cid Rim. Bright, charismatic bass and synth leads are paired with electronically processed acoustic drums and bright, in your face saw pads. The energy created at the juxtaposition of these sounds certainly allows the listener to either sit back and enjoy the music, or get up and dance to the driving groove.
This song is a pivotal point in Wyldephyre’s artistry. As a song that has evolved since 2017, it reflects the evolution of Wyldephyre’s taste and ambition that took place during his study at Berklee – a defining imagine “For His Life” in music.
